Hi to everyone,
I used to run the Revit 2017 version with no problem. After I installed the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, when I select the Print Command, the FILE and PRINT RANGE options are not displayed and won´t respond to any input. Under the PRINT RANGE box, the button SELECT does not respond either. I tried to install another printer (PDF Creator) but the problem remains the same.
To this point, I am thinking that reinstalling Revit will be my only solution.
Has anybody here experienced the same problem? Any help will be deeply appreciated.
Have you tried setting a default printer in the control panel? The new Windows 10 Anniversary Update does weird thing with the default printer, and I had an issue with another program in terms of printing and this fixed it. Something to try, I suppose.
I´m sorry, but I tried what you said, and it didn´t work.
I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling Revit, and it didn´t work either.
I think the problem is some kind of incompatibility between Revit and the Windows update, because I have no problem with other applications.
I hope not to be the only Revit user with this problem!!! I will give it some time to consider if I must go back to the old Windows 10 version.
Thank you very much for your interest!
Thank you very much, but ... it didn´t work for me.
This is very frustrating ... ![]()
Long shot but I do have the setting "Let Windows manage my default printer" turned off
The Windows 10 Anniversary Update has been a nightmare for me! I tried to uninstall it and restore my PC to the former W10 version, and it entered into some kind of "frozen" state. Ther was nothing left to do but format my Computer and make a clean installation from the W10 DVD.
I have read that this Update has caused a lot of trouble to many Windows users around the world. I hope Microsoft will release some kind of fix to solve all these problems.
Thank you all for your advices.
We have batch print problems , but it's not only windows 10 AU related.
Batch printing multiple sheets gives "Revit could not start the print job because it was unable to connect to the specified printer. Check your printer connectivity and try again."
Same problem exists on Windows 7 with latest updates. After uninstalling update kb3177725, batch printing is working again.
I had the exact same problem. I tried to uninstall the AU, but the restore didn't work a nice as it should - desktop icons missing; programs not running. So I had to completely reset my computer.
Thank you very much for this article. I will take some time to decide if I will upgrade to W10 AU.
Hi everyone,
I have exactly the same problem ![]()
If I understand well....the only solution is to reset my pc ?
(and then, I suppose, to block all the next update)
I have the same problem ... buttons not working in the main Print dialogue. I guess I will need to run round the office tomorrow to make sure no-one else's machine upgrades (until Microsoft and/or Autodesk come out with a fix)
Edit: I have just found that Preview and Print Setup dialogues are still working from the R > Print... Menu, and that clicking on Okay from the print dialogue will create a print (at least to create a PDF anyway)
Hi, Agathe,
I would suggest that before reseting your PC, try to restore your PC to the previous W10 version.
Go to Settings - Update and Security - Recovery - Go back to previous version.
Hope this works for you!
Hi Noelrojas,
I can't restore to the previous W10 version because its installation was more than 10 days ago. The option is not available anymore.
Until Microsoft fix this Update bug, here a little software which can save you, to edit/print pdf : Design Review 2013
http://www.autodesk.com/products/design-review/overview
(maybe you also will need to download "DWG Trueview 2015").
You have to export your sheet in DWF format with Revit, then open this file with Design Review. Then menu > print.
A little bit longer than the usual method but very easy to use.
Good luck ![]()
Just when I thought I couldn't dislike a corporation more, microsoft steps in and does something this annoying and foolish. Don't get any ideas Autodesk, you're already on loads of people's ****-list.
I've reported this problem to Autodesk support, who have confirmed the problem on my machine remotely. So they are aware of it and now investigating - although the analyst I spoke with seemed convinced it was going to take a Windows update to fix.
The problem also affects Revit 2016 (update 6 for R2).
As I posted before, there is a workaround (for me at least) using R-menu > Print > Print Preview / Print Setup ... but that only allows printing individual sheets/views (and as long as the other Windows 10 printing bugs don't intervene!)
At the moment the only other advice is not to install the Anniversary Update (Windows 10 version 1607) yet, if you haven't already.
