Problem joining elements from different groups.

Hello! I have had this problem very often. I can't join elements from different groups.

This is an example. There are two groups: group 1 have cmu walls and group 2 have a concrete beam. When I want to join walls with the beam an error appears. See the pictures

Please, any idea to resolve this.

Thanks in advance.

It's a limitation. You can't.

Yes you can, but it depends on what types of elements inside each group.  The idea is that the elements must be able to join natively without using Join Geometry.  Some examples: walls can join with other walls and architectural columns, structural columns can join with structural framing.

I think you are right. In my model (attached) the beam is a model-in-place under Structural Framing category. It's possible the model-in-place element is causing problem, I don't understand why.

I tried something. I replaced the model-in-place beam with a structural beam and the join works.Capture 3.JPG
