Whenever I try to copy an independent view, every time revit creates a dependent one. It doesn't matter which view setting I chose, it always comes as a dependent one. It's causing me lots of trouble. Anyone can help?
It's in portuguese.
The upper option says "duplicate view", the middle one "duplicate with details" and the bottom one says "duplicate as dependent".
I need to look at the list of views in the browser, not how you did it. I am afraid you misunderstood what dependent and independent views mean.
@Anonymous
it appears that you are expecting the behavior in 2D modeling where a duplicate (independent) would generate for you a copy of the view not linked/related to the original...bit this is not the case in 3D modeling in general and Revit in particular.
The main difference between independent/standard duplicate and duplicate as dependent is that dependent duplicates maintain synchronous with the primary view and all other dependent views, so that when view-specific changes (such as view scale, dimension strings, tags and annotations - ie: 2D components) are added or modified in one view, they are reflected in all dependent views.
It is not possible to duplicate a view and have it completely disconnected from the model...in 3D modeling all 3D elements are the same in all views. If you create a 3d element or modify it in one view it will reflect in all views.

I am modifying line work only and having the same problem.
I understand that the 3D model is not to be edited differently in duplicated views( that is the beauty of 3D BIM)
BUT i can not create independent duplicate views no matter what method of duplicating I use-all duplicated views are linked-Even regarding the editing of 2D elements.
Makes no sense.
Any one have a thought on this ?
we would definitely like to know more..
but for time being, can you create a call out, and make it independent..?
