Problem attaching walls to dormer

Hey everyone,

I am struggling to make a dormer in my revit project. The first three dormers went fine whereas creating the last two in another roof, the problems began.

When I have created my walls of my dormer, put a roof on it and created a dormer cut, i want to be able to attach the side walls of the dormer with its base to the main roof and its top to the dormer roof. However, it shows the following error:

"Joining the highlighted wall to the highlighted element moves the wall's top below its bottom or its bottom above its top, or interferes with wall joins or holes in the wall."

I have attached to this post the revit file as well as a screenshot of the error. Hope someone is able to help me as it is really frustrating since it worked fine the first three times but (as far as I'm concerned: out of the blue) it does not work anymore...

Thanks in advance and if more information is needed, please let me know!

Greetings,

Milan

Looks fine to me. I detached the walls to both dormers, re-attached them to both dormers and roofs - no issues.

That's really weird. I do not see what I am doing wrong to be frank. Maybe it has something to with the version of Revit I'm using (2018.2)? Or maybe I am clicking the wrong lines? I really don't know. Maybe you can show me what you did and how you did it? Might be that I am doing something incredibly stupid without noticing it... haha

Or maybe you could send the file with the attached walls back to me so I can look around in it and maybe I can find the solution for myself. Would certainly safe you some time I gues.

I haven't done anything to your file. Just re-downloaded a fresh version and checked the dormers in your screenshot - still looks good to me.

Hmmm, as for now I've solved the problem by sketching the wall profile manually. Hopefully this will not create any new problems in the future...

I will leave this post unsolved, however, as I still do not know why the attach top/bottom function did not work in this case.

I got an error. You're trying to attach the base of the dormer walls to the main roof ; right? Doesn't work. The main roof doesn't fully cover the dormer wall.

...easy fix though. Just edit your dormer cut. Pull the sides in enough to fully overlap the walls.

Hmm, OK! I already fixed it that way but was wondering if it worked with the attached function as well. But yeah, thanks, atleast I know what's wrong with it.
