Print to PDF with vector lines

Hello all!

Hope everyone's doing great. I was just wondering why is it that when I export a Revit drawing to PDF I get pixelated lines. This is a lot more evident on diagonal lines as opposed to horizontal/vertical lines. I tried looking for an existing post about this issue but couldn't find one. I am attaching the actual PDF file and a screenshot of the print settings I used. Also, I used CutePDF writer as my printer if that helps with the situation.

Just a note: Credit to the designer @chrisprecht. I just used his design to practice Revit modelling.

post your revit 3d view so we can see if the lines are there? which area you have problems? you can hide those lines in revit by using invisible lines or use BULLZIP printer driver and see if helps. thanks

Shadow on = print to raster.

I actually don't want to hide any lines in the drawing. I am attaching the Revit 3d view and some close-ups of the PDF file just to show what I exactly mean. So I tried printing it also with BullZIP, the same pixelated lines appeared like the ones from CutePDF.

I'm used to getting clean vector lines when printing to PDF from AutoCAD but I was just thinking of eliminating the process of saving it as DWG then printing as PDF.

But won't printing it as raster still have the pixelated lines just like Jpeg images? Attaching close-ups of the problem I'm having.

Your shadow cause the line to print as raster. There is no way around it. Turn off the shadow and it will print your line as vector. If you want to increase the line smoothness, you have to increase your PDF output to 1200DPI or higher.

Yes. Raster printing is pixelated. You need to increase the dpi from the pdf printer settings to reduce it. But it is not still as sharp as a vector pdf.

This has been an age-old problem for me and my co-workers in AutoCAD. What I have found is to use the built-in AutoCAD printer called:  "AutoCAD PDF (High Quality Print).pc3" .  Then if that is not enough be sure to use the default-2D wireframe view.  I often forget that AutoCAD started as a 2D program and still behaves best that way.  I came to this forum because my 2nd print job (a few days later) stopped printing vector lines (whereas the first print job did), then there were comments here regarding Shadow.  Also, the AutoCAD printer will include the layers in the PDF file.  Within Adobe you can turn on/off the line thickness with Ctrl-5.
