Good Morning Community,
Is it possible to have a set of pre-defined listing of "values" shown within a family's properties?
When inserting a family component into a project, in the properties of that family, I'd like to be able to have one of the "parameter" list an already set listing of "value". IE, A Door Family, and in the properties, a parameter for "Handle Types", and when selecting it, it shows a drop-down of available types.
Kinda...
Normally we handle such information with a Key Schedule, and it isn't in the family itself.
But if you're actually going to nest different hardware set families (made as Generic Models for this example) into a door family, then within the door family you can create a parameter of the type <Family Type> and associate it to Generic Models, and in the project it will then show up as a drop-down list so that you can choose one.
Now the only thing that accomplishes is making that parameter available in the door's properties. It won't be available in a door schedule unless you do it with a shared parameter that's applied to the door category and make that a project parameter as well.
And it wouldn't functionally do anything in the model, at least without some more work. You would want to put formulas into the visibility settings of each of those nested hardware sets to only turn on the visibility of the one that is selected with the <Family Type> parameter. So that whichever one the user picked from the list is the one that would show up on the door.
