Hi fellas!
I wonder if it's somehow possible to get gapped sections without having to adjust every single one manually?
If you have a large project this can be quite a hassle. It's also hard to get them to line up to each other and look the same on each side.
There is no setting to automatically do this when you create a section. You have to do each one manually.
Don't know what kind of Dynamo controls could be implemented here, it is very possible there is really nothing there either.
You can always suggest to the Idea station for something to consider for future development.

What do you mean? The symbols on both sides are aligned to each other because they follow the same section line, and their appearance depends on their configuration, and if the configuration is the same for one and the other, the symbols will be identical.

My bad, wasn't easy to understand what I meant.
I mean that the manual length of the gap is hard to align. It's also hard to get the length right since you can't measure it any way(?).

This seems like something that would be hard to do "right" programatically. You could have some kind of setting for distance, but I am just going to guess in actual practice this is going to be wrong just as often as it is right. Then we have gained nothing really because you are back to moving them manually. Maybe there is something that could be done to help measure distance away from other elements. Maybe that would help with the manual positioning.
Either way, it is an Idea Station kind of thing.
As an alternative,
You could show only symbols at both ends but no line. Custom symbols, one for the head and another one, reversed, for the tail. The symbol would be an arrow with a line. Then, you need to configure those symbols in the properties of the section view. Then you can make the section line artificially disappears by setting the section line to the same color of the background of the screen, in Object Styles.
It takes time, and you need to know your way in the family editor and settings.
I personally like the flexibility of the gap. But if you want them to be consistent among views (1) or within a view (2), hide the original section mark, create new section referencing the original section, gap it how you want, copy paste to other views (1), or copy paste to other places on the same view and change the referenced target (2).
