Hello, it is a great tool to select surface, divide its surface, and select pattern through these steps:
Step 1-2:
Step 3-4:
Step 5:
However, I can only divide surface and set pattern in the surface of in-place mass. Can I place it to the other surface elements? such as floor, ceiling, wall, etc.
Any answers and reccommendations would be appreciated.
Thank you

It's not clear to me what your question is. You can apply Roofs and Walls to Mass Faces. Is that what you are wanting to do? If so, finish and close out of Massing session and use the Roof by Face and/or the Wall by Face tool on the Massing & Site tab.
...or maybe you are wanting to apply a Pattern-Based Curtain Panel?

Okay, I think I understand the question. You want to know if you can divide other surfaces besides Mass surface. Right? Well, technically no, if you mean via Divide Surface - but there are other ways to divide a surface. It just depends on what you are ultimately trying to achieve (e.g. what the purpose of the "divided surface" is). Give me a specific example and I'll tell you how to get there.

No, you can only divide mass and generic model adaptive surfaces. Alternately, you can export the Revit model to SAT, import it in a mass family, and divide surfaces.
Hello, thank you for your reply.
My main goal is calculating the number of tiles created for a surface.
From my thinking:
- First, I need to divide surface and set pattern.
- Second, I calculate the number of divided surface.
For the second, I can automatically calculate the number of tiles by creating mesh for each divided surface. It is done with Dynamo as below:
The script can accurately calculate the total number of tiles as 104.
However, I cannot automate the division of mass surface with Revit project environment. If you have suggestion or another option, please let me know.
Thank you
The script must be running in the conceptual mass family environment, not in the project environment, not even in the in place mass environment.
Another way is using a curtain panel schedule to count.
Why do you need Dynamo for this? Quantification is easy in vanilla Revit. What am I missing?

I'm referring to just plain old Revit. Plain old Revit can produce Quantity/Material Takeoffs. Why do you need Dynamo?
It is part of my work. Dont need to worry at all.
Please just let me know if you have another option to create divided surface beside mass.

Okay. Got it loud and clear.
So, you want another option to create divided surface? A Curtain Wall. How about that? A Surface Pattern. How about that?
