I have two pointclouds I wanted to use in Revit, Pointcloud A and Pointcloud B. They don't have a registered coordinate system on Recap but are in the correct coordinates so it will line up perfectly in Infraworks. When I bring them into Revit they import in the same general area where they overlap but the rotation and x,y,z are slightly off. I've combined them in Recap to create pointcloud AB and when I have all 3 of them in Revit, none of them align. Attached is the A and B Pointcloud
I just realized that the way I've been importing the pointclouds into Revit had it reading the Recap origin point as the origin point in Revit. Is there a way to import the pointclouds so it takes 0,0,0 as the origin instead?
Move them closer to the Internal Origin from where they land in the Project and then reposition them in relationship to one another. You could find the origin of each Point Cloud by inserting each one into Revit via Auto: Shared Coordinates. Where the Survey Point lies in the Project is where the PC Origin is. I don't know what value that information will be though.
I dont get the option to manually input coordiantes when updating the origin
Go to 3D View, turn on the Project Base Point/Survey Point/Internal Origin and then Zoom to Fit plus a little more. Do a Crossing Window Selection of the whole View and check Filter to see what's picked up. See the Point Cloud in the List? Uncheck all except the PC and then activate Move command and move the PC to the PBP/SP/IO. It may take several attempts if it's light years away.
