Point Clouds

Hello!

I need to do a HBIM using a point cloud of a building. I know how to import the point cloud to Revit, but I would like to generate the surfaces directly from them. Does anyone know how to do this?

I read an article from 2012 that comments the use of a plug-in called "Autodesk Feature Extraction" but didn't find it anymore.

Thank you in advance!!

There are a few third party apps that can at least give you a start (Edgewise), however there isn't anything inside of Revit that will extract those surfaces automatically. Huge wish from the users, for sure!

Of course, it would be very useful.

About these apps, do you know (or recommend) anyone that I can create the surfaces? And can I use that surfaces as a guide in Revit?

My problem is to know some curvature that can happens at the walls, for exemple. I have the building documents where I can get the thickness, but the plumb I can only have using the point clouds (or relative surfaces) generated.

I found in working with point clouds that using section boxes and section views through the point cloud helps to create the building model using Revit walls. Of course "real world" walls are not always going to be exactly vertical or horizontal, so there is usually some tolerance given to the model with regard to the point cloud. If you have existing plans that you can import with the point cloud, then you can use both to model, knowing that the point cloud is going to be your "as-built" condition.
