Point cloud relative path

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a solution to transfer a revit project with a linked point cloud to a Revit LT user.

Using Revit LT, you have no chance to modify the path of the linked point cloud. Opening the revit project and the point cloud on another computer, the path of the saved point cloud changes.

Is there any way to create a link to a relative path that changes automatically?

Thanks in Advance!!

In Revit, go to the root path for point cloud settings in File>Options>File Locations.

Thanks for your help so far!

This setting is only available in Revit, but not in Revit LT.

I still need to build exactly the same path, in which the Revit LT user has saved his Point Cloud.

What do I need to type in the path setting in my Revit program, that Revit LT automatically finds the point cloud?

I tried to etransmit the model. The project file and the point cloud files get saved to the same folder, but the linked path in the project doesn't change. I also can't choose to transfer the linked point clouds in the eTransmit settings.

I transfered the Point Cloud with this red button.

It seems like point clouds aren't supported by eTransmit, pc aren't selectable as tick box.

I know this thread is a couple years old, but for future users who run into similar issues, one of my teammates and I used a system that might work in this situation.  He came up with the idea for us to both save the point clouds in folders that would have identical paths on both computers.  For example, if we both saved the point clouds in C:\PretendProject, then Revit will look to that location for the clouds and find them without having to reload the links.

I'm sure somebody will sound some alarm about saving files in a location like that, but in a pinch if they really don't have the ability to update the link paths, then this works.

Hope this helps!
