Please help with Parallels and Revit crashing.

I'm a student using the education version of Revit through Parallels. I've had no problem with it until this weekend, when I am working on a final project. Then Revit or Parallels keeps crashing. I've talked to Parallels support, and they allocated more memory and other vital settings, but it did not help. I've updated to Revit 2024 as AutoDesk suggested for this issue, still crashes. I'm stuck, since I can't use an older version with the files from the newer versions. And AutoDesk doesn't provide tech support for 'free' versions.

I don't know anything about Apple. But you may want to list what hardware (RAM, CPU etc.) and OS you are on.

If it is an option, roll back any Apple updates that were applied since the last time Revit worked for you.

Alternatively, use a PC if you have access to one to finish your project. Or at least to try out if your project works on that.

Doesn't help now, but next time you're buying a new computer, buy one that is able to natively run the industry standard software.

Not helpful. I’m a student. Kind of a arrogant response.

I generally agree to select an OS based on the software one actually wants to use. But you don't know OP's circumstances. Sounds like they are at school and maybe this is the only class using Revit, and the other classes may require Apple-only software...Not sure how likely that is since all professional Apple software also has a PC version, but they may depend on what software the school provides.

I don't want anyone to judge my PC building skills based the Dell PC my employer bought for me :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

I pretty clearly said next time you're going to buy one. Tons of people waste a bunch of money on hardware that can't even run the software they need to work. I'm simply advising you to not buy a Mac next time you buy a computer. Sorry if you find that arrogant.

I didn't tell them throw their current computer in the trash and go spend money they don't have on a new one. I told them the next time they buy one not to buy a Mac.

I didn't mean to insinuate you suggested to throw it away. But even next time this may be out of OP's control.

Many students are forced to use what the school prescribes or buys or has licenses for. And professionals often depend on what the employer decides to buy. The person making the decision on hardware isn't always the user.

At work we have iPads as field devices because "someone" likes iphones for private use. Horrible devices. But I'm not spending my own money on a better tablet. Some decades ago, I was at trade school. Computer class used Apple desktops instead of PCs (that was in 486 times...). In my country Apple might have had a 0.01% market share at that time. So, it was pointless to learn anything for Apple. Even the teacher teaching the class said they are the wrong device and software for us. But the Secretary of State responsible for education (who later had to resign because of bribery charges) was cozy with Apple. So, this is how we got Apple products and it isn't always the user to blame.
