Please help an Inventor use get a usable files

Hello Forum!

I work for a piping company and we use Inventor as our modeling system. We are working on a job and the architecture company has sent me a LARGE Revit file with there building design. They want me to model the piping system that we put into there building which I need to do in inventor.

I have tried exporting to a .SAT but i believe the file is too large because Revit stops responding and then in says fatal error I believe. So I would like to simplify the model to just the main structural members and walls. My question is what is the Revit equivalent to subassembly/parts? For example: how can i easily select all of the gutters or HVAC or Furniture and hide it?

Any tips tricks and help would be greatly appreciated!! Bonus points if you can get me up and running before Monday :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

Thanks guys!

Hi !

First: Do you have both Programms, Revit and Inventor ?
If yes, which Release ?

If both are 2020 (or higher) next:

Open the Revit File with Revit, creat a new 3D View and rename it (ex. "MY 3D-View").

Now go to the properties browser of this View, select visibility / Overrrides ==> Edit

Now unselect all not needed categories.

Save the Revit Projekt with a new name.

Open Inventor, open the Revit file in Inventor, select your 3-D-View "MY 3D-View"

Done :zwinkerndes_Gesicht:

Please have a look at the screenshots attached

Kind regards from Germany,

Bernhard
