Placing new spot elevations on topography incredibly slow

As the attached GIF shows, when placing spot elevations on topographic elements the machine grinds for like 30s on each spot. I have as many things unloaded as possible from the model. Any ideas what I can do? Oddly enough, copying spot elevations has no issues.

Is it wonky in just that one view?

@barthbradley  It's all the views. Incidentally, there is a floor ~50' below the spot elevation. When the floor is on, spots default to the floor instead of the topography above and there is no way around that.

Can't you turn off the floor or change the view range?

Yes. That's pretty much what i'm doing. I'm using it as a reference however.

Maybe underlay the floor in the view?  Still, that is strange behavior.  How big is  this file anyways?

As a reference for what?

Have you noticed slow performance in general?  Maybe some file maintenance is in order?

From the keyboard shortcuts not working to this I do think a clean re-installation of Revit is in order.

@ToanDN You are likely correct that a repair is likely needed. I think I am pressed for time at this point. I will mention however that I am linking 5 separate architectural models into one file and the file is rather large. I bring up the spot elevation issue because it is the only one that seems to be breaking - and the keyboard thing, of course.

Thanks,

@ToanDN I never answered the reference question. Basically, we are using Revit for documenting site. We don't have a way around this atm. The way I'm going about it is transparent topography above floors located at fixed elevation. The floors represent roads, paths, etc. It seems to be working out ok in the sheets. The only caveat is the spot elevation defaults to the floor first before the floor. I can work around it by temporarily turning off floor. I welcome any feedback if you have suggestions for a better workflow. Thanks!

I don't know if this topic is still actual but what I would do is to split your surface into several pieces and hide the pieces you are not working on. This way, Revit doesn't need to calculate as much. The performance of your PC should improve a lot.
