Place structure that intersect with column

I want to place a abu in a column, as the image below. It works for model in place. However, it doesn't work if it is a Revit family(2nd picture). Is there any setting I could modify to achieve it? The material has been changed to concrete.

use Generic Model family instead of Structural foundation.
