OK....in Revit 2020, they were added automatically. where are they located in 2023? pipe fittings, etc.

If the 2020 Template has all you need, then Open a new 2023 Project using the 2020 Template. Then Save the new Project as a Template.

Pipe Types also need fittings defined so if you're starting with a file that is missing pipe types you'll have to get the pipe fitting content too. If you have the MEP template you can transfer project standards to set them up in your file. Just make sure the pipe types have the necessary fittings assigned before trying to draw pipe.
