Phasing Materials

Is there a way to phase a material so it only shows up in the "New" phase.

Ex.  I have split-faced my wall and painted it but that paint shows up on both the New elevations and the demo elevations - I only want to show it on the new.

I was hoping for an easy toggle button in the  Material set-up  that would allow me to pick which phase it would  show in... not there... or at least I can't find it.

If it exists someone please tell me

If not, It's a good and simple idea... anyone else agree?

Parts would get you there.

For example, Paint applied as a physical wall layer.  Wall created in Existing Phase, but through Parts, Paint doesn't show up until New Construction Phase.

Instead of split face, create parts from the wall the you can change parts to a different phase and part material to be different from the original.

Select a wall and press this button on the Modify Tab.

If this is your first go-around using Parts, you may want to watch some tutorial videos about it.  There's a few on-line that you can get to via a keywords search.  Have fun.

Do you use Revit LT?

Thank you so much for your help - the parts function is a little too much to learn for a Monday deadline.

So you have a pre-existing wall condition and a new construction wall condition; right? Why not just do two walll types and phase one out and phase one in then?  Also, since you mention "Splitting Faces", did you know that you can shape-edit a wall profile and embed one into another?  Just a suggestion.
