Phasing control per category

I want to define different visibility settings in phasing per category.

How do I do this? I dont want to have the hatch for new construction on furniture, casework etc.

Try to set up a Share Parameter such as "Phases" in all the families you want to hatch, then set up view templates to with several filters to override the graphic in different phases.

I want the hatching to be automatic for everything drawn in the phase - this is not a good idea because what if somebody forgets to add phasing when they draw something? This is a risk that has to be minimized.

In addition its a lot of extra work, why cant I use the parameter that already exists? I have to set up an extra parameter, make filters and apply to all view templates etc. Tons of work that has to be continously maintained.

I'm not too sure if I understand the word "I want the hatching to be automatic for everything drawn in the phase", do you want to have everything in that phase to be hatched the same way? There is a phase graphic override (Manage → Phases→ Graphic overrides), but in this case, everything will be hatched the same way no matter what the families are.

But if you want families to be hatched differently, there's no way Revit can read your mind without those efforts. Of course, you can use existing parameters, and you have to let everyone know you are using that parameter for phase graphic override purposes, and I'm pretty sure Revit can't fix human errors :).
