My question is how to go about modeling the below transition? Do I act as if the walls were always the final assembly or is there a feasible way of representing the transitions from before to after?
Issue #1 - Working on a residential remodel and the house is modeled as it currently exists with 3/8in drywall. The scope of the remodel will basically involve stripping the walls back to the studs and replacing the drywall with 5/8in.
Issue #2 - The house has a basement that is brick over CMU block which will be retrofitted to include 2.5in of EPS foam and 5/8in drywall on the interior. If I don't join the new wall assembly to the existing then the windows & doors aren't respected by both walls.
Any suggestions?
You could create parts from existing walls and change the phasing of the 3/8 gwb layer to be demolished. Then create a new 5/8 gwb wall under the new phase.
Or model 3/8 gwb as separate walls and demolished them.
I was unaware that I could actually demolish individual parts like that. Thanks that's good to know.
Any suggestion on how to phase the addition of additional wall components on the CMU block?
