Phase selection is greyed out

Hi, I have an existing wall that I need to cut an opening in as `new construction` to go with the rest of the alterations.  I don't seem to be able to select when the opening was created as it seems linked to the wall. The phase selection is greyed out when you select the opening.  I don't want the new opening appearing in my Existing elevation view which it is

Don't use the Rectangular wall opening tool. Use a family such ad a door or window with only the opening cut. Or use a model in place family, use the Cut opening tool there. With those, you can assign Phase.

Thanks, that's worked.  Did a void extrusion mass in place but had to do 3 as the shape I wanted for the opening cut into 2 windows that were originally there as existing but demolished so bricked up.  The cut left the jagged bits tsicking out in this image, so I created 2 more void extrusions to cut them out which seems to have worked.  Not sure why it left those bits in, but at least its sorted now. Thanks.
