PDF Converters for REVIT

Question… Are there any good / decent add-ons for Revit that can convert to PDF cleanly? I ask only because I ran into a student yesterday and apparently they only had the Microsoft PDF converter and Microsoft XPS writer on their machine. We were able to create a PDF, but the page size was limited to 11 x 17 and we really needed a “D-Size” sheet (36”x24”). After about a billion clicks and searches we were able to get on the Autodesk App Store (here is the link in case you were looking for it: https://apps.autodesk.com/en) however, the PDF Exporters shown are only for trial basis. The only other work around I have involves using the Autodesk “TrueView” (http://www.autodesk.com/products/dwg/viewers) which will work however, that is one of my personal class hand-outs and I also was planning on submitting the work flow as a roundtable discussion for AU2016 As usual, any information that may be helpful would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

You can find a number of free pdf converters on-line.  Just do a google search for "free pdf creator" and you'll get hits like CutePDF as posted by RDA and others like:

Thanks for the response(s)....

To be honest, I never heard of the CutePDF or some of the other "free pdf creators" simply because on my systems in the office either the printer software came with a Free PDF Converter or the company would buy a pool of licenses (like AutoCAD) so we always had some way of converting to PDF.

Also, with being in the office during my full-time position, we are not really allowed to just downlowd any software, even if we have the licenses like for AutoCAD. Everything "MUST" get approval, or go through IT.

With my students (at the college) it's seems to be a different story or like the Wild-West when it come to software. I never sat down and examined the computer since it belonged to someone else and they just installed the first app they saw without asking what would work best.

I do have a work around by just using Autodesk software, that being said, why doesn't Revit have a direct converter like AutoCAD?

Again, I'm just looking to point the kids in the right direction. If there is a good app, or Add-on out there it would be nice to know.

Thanks again,

I use CutePDF and recommend that for my students a lot of the time, but you should not need it. I am not sure what PDF exporter your student was using but I can't imagine it does not have paper sizes larger than 11x17. I checked the Mocrosoft XPS writer (which many of my students use) and it has a 24x36 size. I am using the default install of Windows with nothing "added" so I assume the XPS writer has the paper sizes by default.

When printing from Revit the student need to go into the setup to select the paper size. it should be there for the XPS writer.
