Pasting elements "cause serious error"

Guys,

I am getting the same error described in this post.

If I try to perform any operation that involves something similar to "pasting" an element, such as using the Copy option, or Ctrl C+Ctrl V, or even holding Control and dragging an object to duplicate it, I get the message below:

I still can keep using the file after clicking either "Yes" or "No", but the pasting action does not complete.

As the previously mentioned post said, I also get the same message if I access the option Manage Tab>Structural Settings>Connection Settings.

Already spent my whole day performing a clean install of all Autodesk products in my PC, without success.

Anyone has a hint on this?

I don't have any 3rd party plugins. Just performed a clean install. Also tried Revit 2019 and 2020, both with the same problem.

I would guess you are doing something that simply Revit can't do if it's happening with all versions.  What are you trying to Copy and Paste?

Hi guys, thanks for all the suggestions.

I have tried all of them on the past week, but with no success. Still got the same erro as before.

My last resort was to Reset my Windows 10 installation. And it worked.

I know this might be a cannon bullet solution for the problem, but it solved for me. I have never reseted my Windows before, so it is still the original Windows 8 installation I upgraded to 10 in 2016-ish. Probably during all these years, something got wrong and caused this error, but I couldn't diagnose what was it.

@barthbradley Just for completeness of this issue, for future people that might be interested, I was simply copying an object. Any attempt, with any object, using any copy/paste based command, resulted in this error.

For example, I was simply creating a blank project file, inserted a wall in a Plan View, copied it (with ctrl C + ctrl V, Copy command, Mirror, etc.) and got this error. Revit simply couldn't complete the required task to get an object and create a copy of it.

I am pretty sure it wasn't related to any constraint in the program, but something more deep. Perhaps some incompatibility to access some resource required by copy and paste commands, which all commands such as ctrl C + ctrl V, Copy, or Mirror require. This is just a wild guess, since I am not familiar with the depths of the copy/paste mechanics, but it did seem something more related to this.

@ennujozlagam thanks for the suggestions. I tried the article you indicate, but it did not solve. I still got the error with the file you sent me.

I solved my problem reseting Windows.
