Hello,
How can I specify on Revit that an exterior wall is a "party wall" (neighbour) ?
I can't find this option in wall "function" of type properties.
Thanks

So,. you can create a Shared Parameter ( in order to appear on Schedules) with Boolean Type Parameter
(Yes/No) and then you will be able to filter it Schedules..
Constantin Stroescu
Why not just create a demising wall type? You can duplicate and rename your existing wall "Party Wall" if you like.
Thank you, I have a question. Will this shared parameter that we create be considered as a real party-wall during energy analysis in Revit ? or will Revit calculate those walls and consider them like any other exterior walls ?
It's for analysis part. I need for revit to not take in consideration some walls during its analysis

You lost me. You can't filter the demising wall out of the analysis because why?
I didn't understand your reply. Revit makes the annual energy consumption ext... analysis automatically for the whole 3D model right ?
I'm having some issues following the steps.
I can't create a new shared parameter file.
and also when I try "new" on an existing LEEDParameters.txt
this error shows up after clicking OK

Why are you trying to create a new shared parameter file? And what are you trying to do overall? Your original question was about Wall Type "Function", and you are now talking Energy Analysis and Shared Parameter Text Files and whatnot. I'm getting dizzy. ![]()
In the first comment, Constantin suggested a solution but when I tried to follow it and see if it will work for my case I kept getting errors..
I'm gonna just gonna look around more and try to figure this out I guess
as long as I do not use in my office projects Energy Analysis , I'm not accustomed with the subject...
I can only show , how I can control element definitions through these Shared Parameters combined with Filters.
The Boolean parameter acts here as a switch between two type definitions ...as can be seen in my screencast:
You can see , also how to create a Shared Parameter and how to use it in your Project...

Why do you need a shared parameter, or any parameter for that matter? You can name a wall type whatever you want, change its assembly to include the thermal/acoustical properties you need.
And you need to exclude those walls from the energy calcs because why? There are neighboring buildings adjacent to those walls so they are virtually not exposed?
Regardless what structure/material composition that wall has and what function you give it, its impact on the Energy Analysis (Use/Cost) is negligible compared to other factors will have a much greater influence on the energy usage. (well unless you consider values within 0-1 kBTU/ft2/yr is something you need to worry about)
If you want to identify it, it would only be for scheduling or tagging purposes. You can do that either by means of a Y/N instance shared parameter (added to wall category in the project) as suggested by @constantin.stroescu
