Partial transparency not showing in plan; objects set to any transparency value show as fully transparent

Hi folks,
Looking for some help with transparency issues in floor plans. About a year ago I generated a set of plans which I was quite happy with visually - they had a color scheme applied, with furniture/casework set to 75% transparency so the colour showed through a little (image 1).
Fast forward to today and I cannot seem to recreate this - I only have a PDF to prove that it worked at all! If I open the original model, or try to recreate in a new project, the furniture shows fully transparent surfaces (just linework visible) no matter what transparency value I use.
Current settings and things I have tried:
- A room color scheme is applied, located in background.
- Hidden line display style is applied.
- Furniture and casework is set to 75% transparency override in VG; changing value doesn't make a difference. If transparency is turned off completely, furniture turns opaque white as expected.
- Furniture families are a mixed bunch - some have masking regions built in, some have geometry visible in plan, but both are behaving in the same way.
- View range cut plane is at +1.2m so above the furniture.
- Have tried raster and vector PDF prints, no difference in the output.
- The model has been upgraded from 2022 to 2023 - would that have made a difference? My PC has not changed.
Any help much appreciated.
