Hello,
Please see attached.
I would like to be able to change the parameters Width & Brace Height - but when trying to, I end up over-constraining.
Could you please advise me on how to go about being able to flex the braces on the X and Y, while maintaining their relevance to the associated reference planes?
Regards,
Connor

Hi,
There are two things here. Your reference are planes locked instead of the braces locked to the reference plane. Try unlocking the planes and lock the braces to this reference.
To do this, go inside your Brace Family and you need to add the Brace Height Parameter. This one you can load into your parent family. You cannot change your nested family unless there is a parameter in there you can change.

Okay, sounds promising.
Question 1:
How do I differentiate between locking the planes or locking geometry to the planes?
Are you saying that currently I:
1. use the align tool
2. select the endpoint of the brace
3. select the reference plane
4. lock
Where I should be:
1. using the align tool
2. selecting the reference plane
3. selecting the endpoint of the brace
4. locking
Question 2:
How were you able to tell that I locked the reference planes and not the geometry? I would like to be able to see for myself in future reference.
The last part on having parameters in the nested family makes sense. I will apply that so long.
Thank you @Bas.van.Wezel!
I got it to work using the nested parameters.
Could you please just elaborate on below:
"Your reference are planes locked instead of the braces locked to the reference plane. Try unlocking the planes and lock the braces to this reference. "
and how you were able to tell that was the case for my future reference.
Thereafter I will mark the solution - thanks a lot man!
That's great!
Just select the reference plane. I noticed that the lock symbol was locked. Another way is to reveal your constraints in the bottom of your workscreen.

Bas
