Parametric Family - adjusting profile sweeps in array

Hello everyone,

I'm struggling with a parametric family I'm currently working on - a tappered frame with trapezoidal web. I can't seem to make the parametric array consisting of N-elements (profile sweeps) to adjust to the roof slope - see pictures below. Tried a lot of various constrains but every time i get this or a similar error regarding constrains not being ok. Is there anyone who could help me ? :Gesicht_mit_Zunge: Thanks in advance

I don't understand very well your problem. But it looks like the angle parameter is affecting every instance separattely.

Have you tried to host these elements in a Reference Line (not reference plane), and the constrain the reference line with the angle parameter?

Hi,

all the elements there are, are in fact hosted on a ref line.

The problem is the profile sweep i want to array on the rafter.

One profile sweep does not cause any problems :

But as soon as I create array there is a problem:
"A group member's sketch or family is constrained to an element that is not a member of the group.  These constraints have been removed."

I understand that the cause is that the array creates a group of one of the profile sweeps, and the group can't cope with the connections of single profile sweep… LMK if you my explanation isn't entirely understandable :zwinkerndes_Gesicht:

Can you share the family? Without it we are just guessing.

Family below, it's a working version :zwinkerndes_Gesicht: i want to create an array like the one on pillar that's working quite fine for my needs, the array should be perpendicular to the upper flange of the girder

Have you tried nesting families? Create the array in another family. Host
the family in the ref plane.

Thought about it, but than to adjust the number of elements in the array i'd have to create shared parameters and link them with a parameter in this family? (Correct me if I'm wrong) Btw can you tell me how it is with shared parameters and using the family by a lot of people on different working stations ? Do I need to share the .txt file with the shared parameters ? Thanks for the idea btw :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht:

You don't need a shared parameter. In the array family create the parameter as an instance parameter.

In the host family you can create a new parameter and link to the parameter. Check this link

Linking parameters
