Parametric corrugated sheet metal module

Good morning,

I'm creating this post because I'm trying to create a parametric panel with a corrugated sheet inside. I just want to vary the dimension from one side, so I can extend my complete module (structure + corrugated sheet together). I have been trying to use Instance Parameters to use the blue arrows, but I can´t find the correct solution.

Anyone know how to fix this? Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Try this:

1. In your front elevation, draw a reference plane or reference line(in case you want that handle in 3d view)

2. Dimension it from the center reference plane and create a width parameter (instance)

3. Delete all your panel and leave 1 on the left side, array(2nd) it to the right for 270mm

4. Click on one of the arrays, then click on the array label, create an instance parameter for the array number.

5. In the family Types, type something like this "rounddown(Width-(Frame Width*2)) / 270 mm)" in the formulary for the array number.

6. Since your panels are 270 width, rather than make the frame to follow the Width parameter, give it a new width parameter and give it something like "Panel number*270+(Frame Width*2)"

Hi @bin, thanks for the answer. I have been trying that but I'm not able to add the formula as there is a message saying that there are not valid parameters, as Width (see att.). Could I ask how to solve that?

Thank you so much for your time.

Albert

I've updated your family, but I only have Revit 2020.

Most of the parameters and formulas are in this screenshot.

I also saved a single panel as a family and loaded it back in the family.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you so much again for your help. Could I ask one last thing? I've modified the dimension from the corrugated sheet (creating a new family) and I've created a new array of that with 50mm multiples (instead of 270mm), so I can extend my complete module with more precision. With that changes I'm able to modify the lenght of the new module but my problem now is that this new corrugated family doesn't follow the height of the module if I change it. I think maybe is because I should lock this new family to some of the height reference planes but, even I've tried several things, I don't really now how to do it. Do you know why thihs happen?

Thank you so much!

Did yo link the panel parameter?

Edit the group, then edit type, click on the little button(Associate Family Parameter) on the right and link the height of the panel to the Actual Height.Capture.PNG
