Parametric arrays in Family

As soon as I create an array of my extrusion in a newly, otherwise blank, generic family, it seems impossible to change its geometry by parameters or by moving reference planes of which it is constrained to. Only way is to edit the group and change it manually. Is something wrong here or is there something mysticly Revity I should understand?

I tried:
Strong/weak
Aligning all/aligning only original/aligning only array

Only Non-defined ref-planes
Creating dimensions in group
creating ref.planes in group

Constrained by ref.planes.png

Create your object as a separate family, nest it in the one with the array, associate parameters from nested family to parent one, array it.

Array can be very fragile when you want to flex the object inside the group. It is easier to create a new family and add those parameter in there. Once you load into the array family, you can select that family and add flex within your array group. See attached.

Thank you very much. I did try that before though, maybe I did not constrain the geometry fully in the nested family.
