Overview/View Range/Underlay

I was planning to generate a floor plan at upper floors that would see the overview of the roof of those connected buildings that already ended below (hope this is understandable and visualizable). How can I do this? I tried experimenting the 'Underlay' and the 'View Range' but they both see the interior contents of the lower floors (e.g. fixtures, walls).

Also, is the difference of 'Underlay' and 'View Range' is just that Underlay is not editable and in a half-tone/light line?

Thank you so much!

Underlay is meant to show elements out of the view range, where above or below the range.  For what you are doing, underlay is not the best approach.  Just extend to bottom of the view range far enough to show anything you below.

Thank you for your response! Although, the elements between my desired view depth and the current floor are seen, such as the water closets, walls of the below floors. Should I just manually hide them on that view? Isn't there an easier way?

If you have roof then content under them should not be showing unless the roofs are transparent or the view is set to wireframe.

Are you sure your cut plane is at the right height?

Oh maybe that's why. Maybe my view is in wireframe. Thanks! I think I got it. I appreciate this!
