Overriding "Orientation in Host Layers" for linked models

With the addition of Non-Core Layers in R22, we've started to link in architectural models to our own structural model and utilize their walls, removing the need for cumbersome Coordination Reviews. But we've run into problems with CMU wall appearance. My firm uses a pattern for CMU walls that is somewhat closer to the actual appearance of block walls instead of the typical diamond pattern. We've noticed that sometimes this fails as the orientation of those lines will remain oriented to the view regardless of settings we select.

I finally hunted down the culprit, Material > Cut Pattern > Orientation in Host Layers inside the linked model. Whatever this is set as trickles down to whatever view overrides I set. Is there anyway this can be overridden via View Graphics or the like such that I don't need to have the architect change it for me in their model?

Thanks.

Drafting Patterns originate from the Internal Origin of the Project.
