Overlapping Wall Sidings

Is it possible to overlap two different finishes on a wall? I am currently designing a remodel, and the client wants to remove and replace the existing siding, but leave the existing stud walls in place. In the past, I have had to draw the existing walls, and then draw a new wall around the perimeter that is just the siding. But I recently learned to use the "Create Parts" tool, and I was thinking that if I could put two sidings on the same plane on the wall, then I could just create parts and phase them as existing and new. Is this possible? So far, I haven't been able to overlap the two finishes, since Revit will only let me create them in layers. Is there a way around this? Any advice would be great. Thanks!

you can do it by using Sweep into Wall Family :

  • create a Profile Family something like in my image and load it into the Project
  • then, in Project:  Wall> Edit Type > Type Properties >Construction> Structure >Edit >View > Section: Modify Type Attributes >Sweeps
  • Finally you can make Parts and hide the Finish Layer  so to show only the horizontal boards
