THE OPTION TO EXPLODE IS GRYED OUT WHEN I SELECT AN IMPORTED CAD FILE. WHY IS THIS OPTION GREYED OUT?

Is the imported CAD file pinned? If so, unpin it.

Hi @ugina . Are you sure you imported the cad file, not link? The explode button is gray if you link cad file. Try importing your cad file again.

Go to Manage Links dialog box=>CAD Formats=>highlight Link name=>press "Import" button=>press "Ok" to close dialog box=>select Link/Import in View=>press "Explode" button...

I wouldn't import and explode. It puts unnecessary junk in the model.

However, when I exploded the CAD file, all the colors changed to black. Initially, I thought this was due to missing line styles, so I created a line style matching the original CAD file colors. But even after that, the exploded elements still appear in black.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on how to retain the original colors after exploding?

it is never recommended to explode an imported Cad File, as stated in a previous reply, it creates more clutter and trash in your model.

a better and cleaner method is to link in the cad file and pick select the line work (trace) to create a native Revit detail for better use

Don't create the line styles yourself, it will generate automatically.

If you already have one with the same name, Revit use it instead of a new one.

Did you assign those lines to the new styles that you created?

Retaining the original colors can be done in the import dialog box.
