Opening work shared files and sync to central over vpn

Our office is connecting to our project folders through our VPN.  Dwg files and non-workshared revit files are being MOVED to the users hard drive when they need them and are being put back on the network at the end of the day.

I'm wondering what is the best solution for workshared revit files though. These are not being moved from the network for obvious reasons.  At first I thought Revit Server would help but but then realized this is not the purpose it was designed for,  Now i'm wondering if we should try BIM 360 to store the central models in the cloud for now. The real question is, will my users see faster upload and sync times?

Thanks!

There are too many variables to say if your users are going to see faster syncs.

Having said that, if they have at least 5Mbs/sec upload and download speed at home, they shouldn't see worse performance, plus they'd get to benefit from all of the other BIM 360 functionality that comes along with it.

BIM 360 Design is available through the Extended Access Program if you do want to try it. Make sure to check out the resources page which has a ton of information on getting started.
