Hello,
I downloaded and executed a .dat file to reset my Revit back to its defaults but it didn't fix the problem. I also tried disconnecting all my monitors except the one and it didn't fix this.
With the properties pallet docked properly on the left hand side, if I check project browser in the user interface under the View tab, the Properties pallet will vanish and be replaced by the project browser. This issue happens visa versa also. If I have both project browser and properties pallet checked in the user interface option, then whichever of those 2 pallets I select last will display in place of the other.
I have looked through the forums and was guided to download a .dat file to restore settings to default and this did not fix it. I have no idea why its doing this, but I want both pallets showing up at the same time.
This issue also occurs in exactly the same way when I have either of the pallets undocked as well. I tried this with one only monitor connected to my laptop, and the properties pallet and the project pallet are just replacing each other as I have described. This is on revit 2020. I also have revit 2023 installed and when I open that, there is no issue, the pallets show up properly and both are visible and work fine.
I've posted this to the architectural forum, but I am using revit for MEP, but I don't believe it makes a difference and choosing the Architecture board over the MEP board I thought would get more exposure

It's very difficult to trouble shoot this remotely as I would firing a bunch of stuff at it quickly until something worked.
You didn't mention having checked to see if the pallets are tabbed in the same box or if both of them are indicated as still visible in the user interface ribbon.
A video of this in action might be useful.
Hi,
I'm not sure how to video the action, but if you take what I said quite literally - its either the properties pallet or the project browser which displays. That literally is what happens, switching to one causes the other to disappear and the one selected replaces the other entirely.
If you have / are aware of: a video filming screen capture program I can download to show you, I'll take a video of it and post it on here.
I think you missed my questions. Let me phrase them in the form of questions.
Are the pallets tabbed in the same box?
Are both of them actually indicated as "on" in the user interface ribbon when you think they are both on?
So you did follow through with this procedure to no avail?
Hello,
Yes, I think if you read my initial post and take what I’m saying literally it should answer your question.
The issue is when one pallet is displaying, turning the other one on (I didn’t say I was turning the other one off at the same time - that would be lunacy), the turning of either of the pallets on - and in my case I’m turning them both on (and not one off at the same time) it causes whichever pallet is already displaying to disappear.
I have one pallet displaying when both are ticked on, and I can choose either of the pallets to turn on, and the last pallet I turn on (without ticking the other one off - I never said I was doing that), displays causing there other pallet to vanish.
Can someone please direct me to a video recording program so I can show you what’s happening? The issue is occurring precisely how I’m describing, and nothing is fixing this - including running the dat file I was directed to.
This is a very weird and annoying issue
I never said that you were turning anything off. I don't understand where you got that from. I asked two simple yes or no questions that could lead to a solution to your problem. Sorry but you've actually overcomplicate your explanation.
If you can't do video, take screen shots.
In the user display interface, both are ticked on and only 1 is displaying - at all.
If it happens to be the properties pallet that is docked on the left, and I tick in the user display interface, the project browser REPLACES it, and visa versa.
With both ticked on in the user display interface, the pallet that is visible is the last one I tick to turn on, be it the properties pallet or the project browser. They literally are replacing each other.
Also, the issue occurs or behaves exactly the same way when either of the pallets are not docked. They just replace each other. That’s it. There is nothing further to explain.
Send me a link to a video broadcasting program and I’ll show you
Take this same screenshot.
What you’re showing in your screenshot is exactly how mine appears.
The menu you have open is the same one I’ve been referring to in all of my posts, trust me
Sorry that you can't even provide a screen shot. I think you are missing something.
You're right, I don't trust your explanation.
I've been trying to ask you about these:
Well thanks Rob for your persistence in seeking to help me, last night I’m making my replies I was (as I am now), using my mobile phone to make responses, and it was late on Christmas night where I am and I didn’t feel like opening up my computer to take screenshots. After the Christmas festivities I’d been having.
I’m at a Boxing Day family gathering also at the moment, so I don’t have access to my PC, but when I get home this evening, I’ll take a screen shot, and I’ll also look online for a video screen recorder. Or I can just film it on my mobile and post that.
Does this tell you anything? Hopefully this is now a basic problem to solve
