Opening copy of exported project with links

I am working with a project consisting of a Site model (File C) with two linked building models (File A and B). I was sent a wetransfer of all three files which were pulled from BIM360 and I will only be working locally/not in Autodesk cloud going forward for this project.

I am having issues getting A and B to properly link into File C. I am not sure if I have selected an incorrect sequence of operations related to detaching at opening, saving as new central, creating new local, etc.

When I navigate to the file through Revit, it asks me each time if I want to be creating a new local. Is this something that should be manually unchecked each time I open? it seems to append my account name to the file name each time I create new local.

I think this error upon opening file C is referring to the instances of File C that are linked into A and B:

Regardless when I go to manage links, I can confirm that both files A and B are appearing as being linked into C correctly:

But one of the links (02) appears to be missing:

SO what is the correct foolproof order of operations for taking each of these three files and starting from scratch so this is fixed?

Thanks

Change your reference from Attachment to Overlay. If you don't want that, then go to link A & B and set the Revit Link C reference into those file as overlay. This should break the circular reference.

Setting link of C into B and A as overlay broke the circular reference but I still can only see A (Model 01) - B doesn't appear but the instance is selectable.

Any other ideas? @syman2000

Other way is to remove the any Revit link in building A & B. Then when you link, it will break the circular reference.

Still not appearing but both links now load without issue/warning.
