One or more required internal settings are missing from the model – Project Info

All,

I randomly keep getting this error message when opening some of the models (Revit 2020):

‘One or more required internal settings are missing from the model – Project Info’.

The way I fix it is to open the model with audit and all worksets closed and to transfer Project Info from an archived model. Choosing the ‘Repair and open’ option changes some of the settings we already have input to default which is why it is not preferred.

Do you know what might be causing this issue and how to prevent it from happening again?

Thank you

See if the article blow can help you with anything.  I have never seen that error so I can't suggest what might have caused it.

What plugin do you have installed...I never see such errors on a clean Revit install

Did you try to open the model with checking the "audit" checkbox? I have seen this error message several years ago in Revit 2016. And the error in my model was not very severe, which audit repaired it.

I have pyRevit, diRoots, BIM Interoperability Tools, NBS.

Also, we have an issue with external consultant's models which have old schema and recently performed the following steps, using the 'Repair schema' option from the BIM Interoperability Tools:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/search-result/caas/simplecontent/content/classification-manager-schem...

Could 'Repair schema' affect something in the Project Info?

The models become corrupt with the missing Project Info repeatedly which means that something is affecting them but can't figure out what.

Unfortunately, in this case the models can only be opened with audit. Audit itself doesn't fix the issue.

It is possible that it is related yes ...  Several reasons a model or elements/parts of the model get corrupt (and audit/repair cannot fix) but it would be hard to tell which without looking at the journals...best the ones recorded when the error occurs (repair close session without switching windows or moving pointer outside revit)

I would still disable all addins to test ... How are you worksharing the model? hopefully not on google drive or similar.

I definitely had this happen on a 2023 ACC Revit model this morning. I believe it is tied to purging data schema via PyRevit. I was able to open via AUDIT and transfer the project info from an archived copy.
