Hello all,
what's the difference between Revit OmniClass and downloable OmniClass Database table 23? Why these two classifications have the same name in common, but different values? How to understand the Revit Category column D? Does anyone have a source which would neatly explain it? I've been trying to solve this one out but I still can't say how (and if) these two specifications cooperate.

The one comes with Revit is outdated.
Thanks for the source, it's clear now (and weird that it's not updated in Revit by default). Out of curiosity though. If I download and use new OmniClass, will it be visible for other users once they open their projects? I will check it out, but it seems the most secure way to include this OmniClass number would be to set it both in the parameters and in the family properties.

No. OmniClass database file is installed at user's local folder by default so you would have to replace that file for every user unless you can somehow make every Revit station looking for a centralized file.
