I just completed an upgrade from an old 2011 Revit model. That's the oldest one I have. It got me thinking, is there a limit on how far back a model will be allowed to be upgraded? 2011 was at least the new interface vs. 2009 "Revit Building Sytems". Does anyone know if there's a limit to how old the model can be before the upgrade won't work?
No hard rule.
But the older the file the more chance it fails to upgrade. Sometime you need to upgrade gradually through versions until the newest one.
I don't know if there is a limit, but FWIW, upgrading sequentially is recommended. Straight from the horse's mouth via a support case we opened years ago to resolve issues we were having with upgraded projects.
