Offsetting a face-based family which is hosted on a sloped rafter

Hi, I've been trying to place some clamps along a rafter which is at an angle. I have created a face-based family but I'd have to keep placing it one by one instead of creating an array because the new family that is created from array becomes unhosted. Any other way to do this?

Hi @faijanuddinshaikh

After placing the clamp family's first instance, select it and "Pick New Host."  Choose the host so it is reassociated with the host again.  Then, do the array.  The arrayed objects should stay with the sloped host.

See the video I made for you.

What about Arraying the clamp in a Line-Based Family. A LB Family can host to face.  Plus, doing it as a loadable Array Family can give you greater parametric control.

I used this same method to put gutter supports (stiffeners) before, could've also used this method this time. It didn't come to me at the time haha. This is as far as we can go I guess. Thank you.

Interesting. I'll try that out.
