Objects missing when exported to IFC

Hi fellas!

Can someone explain how you get a quick and good control over whats exported during IFC exports?
If you create your own subcategories, as an example beneath Generic models, they seem to not get exported by default?
Do I have to control the IFC mapping everytime in every project? If so, what should I use, IFCGenericModels doesn't seem to exist?

Also, can someone explain how "IfcBuildingElementProxy" works? It also seems to not export the objects?
Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

Is it possible to somehow get a 3D view that shows everything that's not exported to IFC? Would be easier than scrolling through lists.

Thanks in advance!

You could create a mapping and save that.

Maybe already set it up in your template(s)?

I also experienced difficulties with sub-categories not mapping to the right category (defaulting to the mapping in the main category itself). However this was several Revit versions ago. Never tested if it has improved in later versions.

What I ended up doing is to add two parameters to all of my families IfcExportAs and IfcExportType.

These parameters take precedence over the mapping settings.

For me the big advantage is that I am not dependent on Revit categories. I can have a family in the Generic Models category but still, by using the parameters, export it to something like IfcOutlet.

More details about this and exporting to IFC in general can be found on the Autodesk knowledge website.

For the meaning of ifc codes look at the buildingsmart website. They have explanation on the codes like IfcBuildingElementProxy.

I do not think there is an (easy) way to see what is not exported.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
