Objects like upper cabinets do not end up in the desired level.

When I place an upper cabinet while in 3d view mode, it seems to always end up on the second level instead of the 1st level.  Consequently, I have to insert a negative elevation number in order to place the object in the desired height location.

Any way to change the location to the 1st level so that I'm not changing the height to a negative number?

Thanks

In your 3D view, is the current Work Plane set to the level at which you desire the uppers to be placed? It may help to place it at the desired level.

Also, this is less likely, but you could check the family to see if the insertion point is far above the Ref. Level. If it is, lower it to a more appropriate height.

My final suggestion for now is to use a less-steep angle when placing the uppers. I have had problems with placing objects, especially wall-based objects, when I have the 3D view at a steep angle to the wall.

These are simply suggestions. An image or two, or better yet a screencast, would further clarify the issue you are dealing with.
