Objectively comparing performance of two models

I am looking for a tool that can objectively compare two separate models to test for performance differences.

The closest thing I can think of is the Revit benchmark, but that compares the performance of the computers, not how fast or slow a model is going to perform.

I am looking to test if it is worth it to simplify the geometry of a model. My model has about half the triangles when I export it into 3ds Max, but does that really translate is a faster model in Revit? If so, but how and I want to know if the simplification effort is worth it rather than just 'feeling' it is faster.
