Object Style Dialog box collapsing columns - Why can't this be fixed

Why is it that this dialog box shows me all kinds of room over to the right but jams everything on the left? I can go expand it I know. The problem is I have to expand it EVERY time I open it. This is quite painful to have to work with when you go in and out of it often doing things like family creation or template creation. Frankly, it is just painful to have to expand those columns anytime.

So, for clarification, that site says:

If you need to reset the ribbon to restore default settings, you can delete the UIState.dat file which holds Revit's interface settings.

This is the default settings and I don't like them. So if I delete the UIState.dat file does that mean I will not get this reset every time I open Revit and that it will maintain the settings I choose?

Then I beg to question that if I am on a virtual machine that resets and the whim of IT, do I need them to delete this on the settings they push out?

Thanks y'all,

What you show is not the default settings.  The Default settings are not collapsed all the way to one side, but spreading the entire window.  Revit will hold the entire window size and position, but not specific column widths.  See below for captures of the interface before and after reopen Revit.  At least, columns will not collapse like what you have.

Not sure.

I'm afraid that you are going to have to look locally for a solution as what you have is not the default layout.

Hello, I also find this frustrating - have tried deleting the UIState.dat file (Revit LT 2024) and restarting several times, and the Object Styles dialogue still opens with everything squashed to the left. Is there anything else I can try please?

It is not happening in RLT 2025. It may even be related with operating system and version, Win, Mac.
