Dear All,
When i am selecting the structural Column in the Second level Plan. The column which is in Different level is also selected at the same time.
why different level objects are selecting in the second level plan?
Basically , I only need the selection of second level column
Kindly please let me know Why it is happening? and How i can adjust it.
Normally they are two individual columns which are created seperatedly. They are not one length long column from base level to top level.
Thanks in advance
this happens depending on how to try to select the element.
- if you hover your mouse over the column first, a tooltip will pop up and tell you what it found. If you left click this, you are selecting the item
- if you make a window crossing selection, Revit will grab everything it can within that window you make. This is also dependent on if you make the crossing selection from left to right or right to left.
- left to right selection will give you a solid box (all objects fully contained will be selected)
- right to left selection will give you a dashed box (any object touched by the dashed box will be selected)
- if you hover your mouse over the object and select your Tab key once, it will cycle thru what it finds each time you select your Tab key

Yep: TAB key to cycle through and find overlapping elements. CTRL key to add elements to Selection Set. SHIFT key to remove elements from Selection Set.
View Range and View Underlay will also influence what you can select. A structural framing plan will usually offset the cutting plane deeper than an architectural plan so you can see framing beneath the floor. As such you're also seeing the top of the column below.

Hey,
I would also advise you to check your Depth Clipping (located in your properties when in a plan view). If the depth clipping is set to none then you will be able to see all the levels below and accidentally grab stuff that you don't mean to in the levels underneath. If you set that to Clip with Line or Clip without Line then all the other levels elements wont show through underneath.
Best wishes,
We have lots of way to do this.
I changed the view range primary bottom offset and view depth level offset value to 0.It really worked
Thanks and Regards
