My company has our north arrow in the sheet family I want to be able to rotate the indicator arrow after i have loaded the sheet into the project.  I have made a separate north arrow family with shared parameters and loaded it into my sheet family but once I load the sheet family into the project the option to rotate the north arrow is not there.  is what I want to do even possible?

Did you Associate the North Arrow Family's rotation Parameter to an Instance Parameter in the Titleblock Family. If so, did you select the Titleblock Family on the Project Sheet to reveal its Properties and access its rotation Parameter?

It works within the sheet family but does not work when the sheet is in the project

There is no such thing as a Sheet Family/Category, so I don't know what you mean. But, it looks to me like your North Arrow is on a Titleblock that is on a Project Sheet.

ASSOCIATE the North Arrow Family's rotation Parameter to an Instance Parameter in the Titleblock Family.  Know how to Associate Parameters?

Check out my post about North arrows.

If you want to read true north automatically, you need the dynamo script. Unfortunately Revit doesn't seem to have a native support for that.

What exactly do you need? A title block with an automatic north direction? Or a north arrow that works with a parameter and needs to be set manually? Or a fixed north direction inside a title block?
