How do you have an existing condition model with proposed changes in the same model?

Revit isn't like AutoCAD or Sketch-Up that uses layers.

Revit offer true Phasing capability (the 4th dimension as they often call it).

Awesome!

Thank You!

I am just really starting with Revit.  I typically use Sketch-Up, AutoCAD and/or Chief Architect.  All very easy to use, shallow learning curve.

Revit appears to be very complex with steep learning curve.

If I sent you a picture of what I am trying to do on a live project, would you be able to help me?  More complex than a simple rectangle with a roof.

Let's take a look at it. Post a picture of the roof you are trying to model.

How do I post a picture?

It might be a moot point. The project manager, who doesn't know how to use
Revit, has indicated that they might be kicking me off the project.

I told them that my Revit skill was about a 4 out of 10. I know AutoCAD,
Sketch-Up and Chief Architect at about a 9 level, well enough to teach
classes.

I have 41 years of experience and preparing to sit for the ARE. I just
don't know Revit well. Maybe you can tell me, do you think that the roof is
complicated?

The roof consists of scissors trusses and I need to show the interior as a vaulted ceiling. To me, this is a complicated activity in Revit.

The garage, on the right - shown on left , ( the Rear facade is in the picture ).

I'm working alone so I don't have anyone to ask questions to show me what to do in real time.  Kind of winging this.

The pictures below are from Sketch-Up.

We do scissors by modeling a roof over a roof (e.g. 8:12 o/ 4:12) and then joining them to remove the visible edges between them.

That looks like a Sketch-up roof in your picture.  Whatever; post that file too.  As Attachment.
