New Level Missing Plan View

Anonymous

Hello. I'm taking a Revit course where each assignment builds on the other to re-create a building design. The building has three floor and each one is visible in the plan view. However, when I create the level for the roof, the plan is not visible. I've attempted to "zoom to fit all"; confirmed the building is within the elevation points. I also did the prior assignment over to make sure I didn't miss anything and still no success. The roof level is showing under "Floor Plans" but when I select it, the screen is blank. This other floors show with no problem. Please advise.

Thanks a lot!

When you have created a level, the next step is to create the view.

Look at the top of your screen.

Click View>>Plan Views>>Floor Plan

This will bring up a dialog box to prompt you to select a level. Select the new level that you have created

The you will be prompted regarding the name of the view - you can choose whether the name of the view and the level are to be the same or not.

You will see the new view in your Project Browser.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply Rina!

After creating the level, the roof plan already shows within the Project Browser. When I select it, nothing is visible. Are you saying I would need to create a second view, although one is already listed?

Type VR.

This will bring up the View Range dialog box, where you can edit the height of the cut plane for your plan.

Also - if you type VG - this will bring up graphic overrides so that you can check the visibility of model elements etc in it.

The reason is that you have nothing drawn on the Roof level.  Turn on Underlay for the Roof plan so that you can see the floor plane below to give you something to get start modelling the roof.  Also, you should create Grid lines to help you coordinate views and locations of building elements.
