Hi Everyone!
i have the problem with family" new generic models". it is not in template? and it not displayed on the plan view?
so dose anyone have a way to solve this problem?
sorry i don't get you. what type of generic model you have? please post it here so we can check. alternatively go to your project browser look for the family and drag it in your plan view. thanks
Hi, I am assuming by 'New Generic Models' Not in template you mean that there are no Generic models loaded into your 'Template'.
You can check this by looking in your project browser in the families section and see if the Generic Models category is visible. If not then you don't have any Generic models in your template.
If this is the case you'll either need to load the generic model you require or create an In-Place generic model family.
If the issue the generic model you have placed is not visible in the plan view you can check out why by using this list....
1.1 THE OBJECT OR CATEGORY IS TEMPORARILY HIDDEN
1.2 THE OBJECT OR CATEGORY IS HIDDEN IN THE VIEW
1.3 THE OBJECT IS BEING OBSCURED BY ANOTHER ELEMENT
1.4 THE OBJECT'S CATEGORY OR SUBCATEGORY IS HIDDEN IN THE VIEW
1.5 THE OBJECT IS OUTSIDE THE VIEW'S VIEW RANGE
1.6 THE VIEW'S FAR CLIP DEPTH IS NOT SUFFICIENT TO SHOW THE OBJECT
1.7 THE OBJECT RESIDES ON A WORK SET THAT IS NOT LOADED WITHIN THE PROJECT
1.8 THE OBJECT RESIDES ON A WORK SET THAT IS NOT VISIBLE IN THE VIEW
1.9 THE OBJECT RESIDES ON A WORK SET THAT IS NOT LOADED IN A LINKED FILE
1.10 THE OBJECT RESIDES ON A WORK SET THAT IS NOT VISIBLE IN A LINKED FILE
1.11 THE OBJECT RESIDES WITHIN A GROUP (DETAIL MODEL) AND IT HAS BEEN EXCLUDED FROM THE GROUP
1.12 THE OBJECT IS PART OF A DESIGN OPTION THAT IS NOT VISIBLE IN THE VIEW
1.13 THE OBJECT IS PART OF A LINKED FILE THAT IS NOT VISIBLE IN THE VIEW
1.14 THE OBJECT HAS ONE OR MORE OF ITS EDGES OVERRIDDEN TO DISPLAY AS '<INVISIBLE LINES>'
1.15 THE OBJECT IS A FAMILY AND NONE OF ITS GEOMETRY IS SET TO BE VISIBLE IN THE VIEW TYPE
1.16 THE OBJECT IS A FAMILY AND NONE OF ITS GEOMETRY IS SET TO BE VISIBLE AT THE VIEW'S DETAIL LEVEL
1.17 THE OBJECT IS SET TO NOT BE VISIBLE AT THE CATEGORY'S DETAIL LEVEL
1.18 THE ELEMENT HAS BEEN PLACED OUTSIDE THE VIEW'S CROP REGION (VISIBLE EXTENTS)
1.19 THE ELEMENT IS AN ANNOTATION OBJECT AND DOES NOT RESIDE ENTIRELY WITHIN THE ANNOTATION CROP REGION
1.20 THE OBJECT'S PHASE SETTINGS OR THE VIEW'S PHASE SETTINGS PREVENT THE OBJECT FROM DISPLAYING IN THE VIEW
1.21 THE VIEW'S DISCIPLINE IS PROHIBITING THE VISIBILITY OF THE OBJECT
1.22 THE OBJECT IS AFFECTED BY A FILTER APPLIED TO THE VIEW
1.23 THE OBJECT IS SUBJECT TO AN ELEMENT OVERRIDE, SET TO BACKGROUND COLOR
1.24 THE OBJECT IS SUBJECT TO A CATEGORY OVERRIDE, SET TO BACKGROUND COLOR
1.25 THE OBJECT STYLE IS SET TO BACKGROUND COLOR
1.26 THE OBJECT IS CONSTRAINED TO A SCOPE BOXES THAT IS NOT VISIBLE IN THE VIEW
1.27 THE EXTENTS OF THE OBJECT ITSELF DON'T PERMIT IT TO BE SEEN
1.28 THE OBJECT IS A MASS, AND 'SHOW MASS' IS TURNED OFF
1.29 THE OBJECT'S HOST VIEW HAS BEEN DELETED (AREA BOUNDARIES)
1.30 THE VIEW'S SCALE IS PROHIBITING THE OBJECT'S VISIBILITY
1.31 THE OBJECT IS A LINKED INSTANCE WITH COORDINATES TOO GREAT FOR REVIT TO HANDLE
1.32 THE USER HAS INCORRECTLY IDENTIFIED THE LINK INSTANCE TO WHICH THE ELEMENT BELONGS
1.33 THE OBJECT IS IN A LINK THAT IS NOT IN ITS CORRECT POSITION
1.34 WALL IS SUBSUMED BY AUTOMATICALLY-EMBEDDED CURTAIN WALL
1.35 SOMETHING IS REALLY FAR AWAY FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE PROJECT AND WHEN THE VIEW IS ZOOMED TO FIT, EVERYTHING DISAPPEARS
1.36 ELEMENT IS WHITE AND ITS EDGES COINCIDE WITH OTHER OBJECTS.
wow.......

That is so much more useful.
my favorite is # 1.35 on that list...
Any news on this topic? i have the same problem with every family category in Revit 2021
Every family category?
What kind of problem?
Did you download the content?
What content are you talking about?
And yes, whenever i try to insert a family, no matter what type it is the name of the family category will always be "New [Family Category]"
What is the category after you place it?
If i place a generic model the category shows as new generic model, if a place a room the category shows as new room, and so on
Why do you think it's a problem?
No idea, that's why i'm asking.
Got any useful tip or solution from your side on how to deal with this issue?
I still don't see an issue.
Oscar.GuillenSCEEF, I had the same question you did: In this image, the properties on the left are from Revit 2020; those on the right are from 2021. On the right, the category is "New Generic Models." Why do we have this new category? It turns out that while we are in the process of placing these generic models, the properties identifies them as New Generic Models, but after we finish placing them, they are simply "Generic Models." This is the case in 2020 as well as 2021. Hope that helps!
They are not new categories. It's not an issue. It just means that you are placing a "new" element, that is all.
