I'm perplexed how I couldn't easily find a thread already answering this question but I don't know how to create both net and gross area boundaries on a single plan. As soon as you create the net boundary lines it excludes the area out of the existing gross area boundary. I have the sheets already set up for gross with a schedule and color fill legend. How can I get this to work or do I have to have 2 area plans per floor?
Can you hide the net boundary lines? Or create a 'dummy' view with the other area that can be used as an overlay?
Hiding doesn't work. I tried duplicating the view and then adding it as an underlay but it will only add floor plans as underlays.
what do you mean by scheme/plan? I'm using area plans. Also how do I overlay an area plan. Only floor plans show up as options to overlay in a view. I was looking at underlay. So how do you make an overlay of a view on top of a view within the same model? I'm only familiar with linking overlays.
You can have different Area Schemes and their associated Area Plans for different purposes. they are completely independent from each others.
Whats the purpose of the schemes in terms of what I'm trying to do. I notice if I make a new scheme, I can then create a new area plan of the same floor used in gross area scheme. But can't I just duplicate the area plan too? Also how do you overlay a view on top of a view? I wouldn't ask these questions if I could find them through a comprehensive google search but that doesn't seem to work well with revit based questions.
You cannot duplicate an area plan and/or change it from one scheme to another. The area and the area boundary lines pertain to the scheme they are created from.
