I have a series of nested families - they are all shared families, as it is important to be able to manipulate, tag and quantify each family in the project. However, the Instance Parameters of these Shared Families fail if I try to nest it more than two times - I'm not sure why, or how to prevent it.
If someone could help me figure this out, I would appreciate it a lot!
I've attached an example of what I mean - basically I have:
Family C & D - Columns and Beams
> nested into Family B - a metal structure
> nested into Family A - a booth
It works fine up till there, but if I try to load Family A into another family or even a project, it breaks down.
Seems to be working for me. How are you doing it. List your step-by-step workflow.
...how exactly is it "breaking down".
...I notice none of your nested families parameters (with the exception of their material parameters) are associated to parameters in their Hosts. Is this by design?
Arrgh. I guess I should have read the title of your thread more carefully.
No, you cannot access nested, shared family Instance Properties in the Project. The only accessible Parameters in the nested, shared family are its TYPE Parameters. However, if you were to place a separate Instance of the Family in the Project, then its Instance Parameters would be accessible.
This is what I was alluding to when I was asked you why you didn't associate Parameters in the Nested Family to Parameters in the Host. That's the Solution.
